Demo Day

The last couple weeks we’ve been tearing into the bathroom. Demo is actually quite fun, and everyone likes to pitch in! My 9 year old loves swinging a hammer or prying with the crowbar.
But... it’s also the point of no return. One way or another you have to get back to a finished space again! And that makes it hard to pull the trigger.
The treasures you find along the way are so interesting and worth the demo alone, especially when you live in a 100 year old house. You can see some of those treasures below.
We uncovered the original hardwoods, not in great condition and not ideal for a bathroom though.
We found holes where they blew in insulation from the outside, sometime more recently.
We got to see the old weights on the window sashes! Did you know there are two on each side! We will tile a new frame around the window, to preserve the historic window!
And we discovered the light fixture was on knob and tube, so we have an electrician coming to help us with that!
This is my first One Room Challenge, which is super nerve racking because I’m afraid we won’t finish in the 7 weeks we have left! And as renovation almost always go haywire somewhere, I will keep you posted on how it’s moving along!
Next week I’ll be sharing all the items we’re using for the project with prices and links!!! Plus some of the challenges we’ve already faced in this area. This is super budget friendly so you will want to check that out!

Thanks for sharing. Amazing what you can find when you start demoing! Can't wait to see the next stage of this.
